Veterinary Endoscopy

Endoscopy is minimally invasive diagnostic procedure that allows Dr. Pedraza to evaluate the internal organs without having to operate on your pet. A flexible scope or camera is placed through the  gastrointestinal tract and a 360 degree evaluation is performed. The flexible scope allows Dr. Pedraza to view all spaces in the body. This procedure is still performed with general anesthesia. The benefits of performing endoscopy are: no incisions, full evaluation of the gastrointestinal tract, remove possible foreign material, no incisions, able to collect biopsies for the lab, no recovery period and best of all, no pain.

Other methods of endoscopy are: rhinoscopy, cystoscopy, otoscopy, and arthroscopy. These procedures are done with a rigid scope.

·      Rhinoscopy is the evaluation of the nasal tract

·      Cystoscopy is the evaluation of the vaginal tract

·      Otoscopy is the evaluation of the ear canal

·      Arthroscopy is the evaluation of a joint (elbow, hips or knee)
